What is Emotional Estate Planning?

Just as we plan for the intellectual parts of death, guiding our loved ones to easily find account numbers, passwords, wills and asset management resources, we have the capability through emotional estate planning to guide our loved ones with personalized hope.

Your Legacy of Hope is about highlighting the emotional planning comprised of words, messages, thoughts, hopes and dreams which is often overlooked in the estate planning process.

ANGIE’S VISION

My Overall Vision

In Emotional Estate Planning and hopefully inspiring others to create a “Legacy of Hope” is this:

I hope that as a society, as community members, as friends, as families and as individuals we can find ways to talk more openly, more honestly and with deeper vulnerability about death.

I believe we do this by creating space for, and normalizing these challenging conversations around death. Letting ourselves be uncomfortable yet purposeful and intentional in our discomfort.

I would love to see “Legacy of Hope” groups develop EVERYWHERE.

Groups made up of friends, family members, or professional organizations… similar to a bookclub.

These Legacy of Hope groups would meet regularly. Maybe bi-monthly or quarterly or whatever works best for the members. Each and every person involved would create their own Legacy of Hope.

Groups of individuals supporting each other in discussions around grief while embracing vulnerability and estate planning with Heart. Hope being created for generations to come.

When I close my eyes and envision my loved ones getting their folder of letters— it gives me hope. Hope that even in grief, there will be joy, there will be laughter and yes there will be tears.

But hopefully through the Joy, the Laughter, and through the tears- Our loved ones will know…. Without a doubt…. What they meant to us during our lives.
